Well, there are bad habits and then there are BAAAD habits – like smoking or watching tv too much. However, there are some habits that aren’t too bad for us. Sometimes we can use a break, while other times we just need to take one. While good habits give us incremental benefits (like exercise, eating right and waking up early), bad ones can also help reset our clocks and boost our endorphins. Just make sure that you’re not spending your entire weekend with a bag of chips and 2 seasons of The Crown – although it is a really great show.

Binge Watching

While technically a bad habit, binge-watching can actually help stimulate your creativity through an entire season. While binge-watching, you tend to be more focused and engaged with what’s happening. This helps in making new connections in your brain that help you become more creative and artistic. You can also become a critic of fine work and recommend them with your friends. You can become that go-to-person for good shows and creative outlets. Binge-watching can also make you feel like you’re a part of a community, which itself has many benefits in social bonding.

Over-sleeping or hitting the snooze

As it turns out, your body may need more sleep. Sleep is the best way for the body to repair damaged cells and bring your hormones to regular levels. It’s also a great way for your body to reset if you’ve gone too hard over the weekend. You can hit the snooze button and sleep it off, or you can sacrifice your sleep and fall sick.

You deserve to sleep extra if you’re feeling tired or exhausted throughout the day. It’s good to get a long-duration sleep as taking breaks in the middle can mess with your hormones. Sleep is our friend, not our enemy. If someone around you brags about how little sleep they get, then you should do the opposite and snooze while they’re talking.

Splurging on shopping

It’s not so bad! Just don’t take out credit cards and go crazy. You should enjoy the process of shopping and spend on good deals and beautiful options. You should also make it a habit to spend once a month – on something you really love. There are lots of apps online that tell you when the prices of certain things go down so that you can buy when the price is low. You should also window shop through the week to finally decide what you want to buy.

Over-eating on the weekend

Yes, even having a cheat day works well when you’re on a diet. In fact, you can stick to your diet plan long-term if you follow a clean one and cheat on Saturday. You can pick the day you like and eat unrestricted. For the rest of the week, you can stay clean and consistent on your diet. You should also rest when you’re over-eating as exercise can aggravate your digestive system.

If you’re playing video games for 2-3 hours a day, then that’s a problem. You need to spend more time with your family and friends. However, if you’re doing it while bonding with your loved ones, then that’s a different story. You can also start meditating while playing video games, as your mind just shuts off. This is a great way to disconnect from everything for a few moments. While it’s good to take breaks between work hours, you should do so with limitations.

Not giving an F*ck

You can also start being more available for more fun activities that you actually give an F*ck about.

If you can’t control it and you need to do it, then, by all means, make it happen. You can get more blood circulated in that region and you feel happier doing it. Stress is a killer, and if you can’t fidget then try stretching.
