Brace yourself for what could be probably called a ‘big fat Indian wedding’ ever!
As per the reports, Akash Ambani (eldest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani) has proposed his school friend, Shloka Mehta, who also the youngest daughter of diamond magnate, Russell and Mona Mehta. The meeting was a private affair, held in Taj Holiday Village, Goa.
Both became very close friends when they used to study together in Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
Mukesh Ambani (a man who does not need any introduction), is India’s richest business tycoon. He is the chairperson and MD at Reliance Industries and his wife, Nita Ambani is the founder of Reliance Foundation.
Russell Arunbhai Mehta, is the MD of Indian arm of Rosy Blue Diamonds, a family owned diamond trading business. The company has its branches in 12 countries around the globe. Global Inter Gold, the jewellery manufacturing unit of Rosy Blue India, is one of the leading diamond jewellery companies in the world. Orra is the retail chain of Rosy Blue India.
Russell Mehta and Mona Mehta, are said to be close relatives of the fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi.
Akash Ambani is currently the chief of strategy in Jio, a 4G service. He has two twin siblings Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani. The bride to-be, Sholka Mehta has her degree in Anthropology from Princeton University and has earned her master’s degree in Law from London School of Economics and Political Science. According to TOI, she is presently the co-founder of ConnectFor, which matches volunteers with NGO’s that need them.
Though their engagement was a private matter, their post engagement pictures went viral on Instagram and other social media platforms. The Ambani family along with Shloka Mehta, visited the famous Sidhivinayak temple post engagement to seek God’s blessings for the couple to-be.
Yesterday, a grand party was thrown at Ambani’s residence Antilla in Mumbai which was a star-studded affair, to celebrate the union of two billionaire’s children. Click here to see the pictures. As per the reports, the duo is likely to get married later this year. But no official announcements for engagement and marriage have been made.
In an interview to TOI Akash Ambani and Sholka Mehta said that they are truly happy that their friendship blossomed into love and now they are getting married. Further adding both complemented each other and vowed to add meaning into each other’s lives with their unconditional love and affection.
