Are these new bags from Louis Vuitton a canvas of the future? The French Fashion House, Louis Vuitton Malletier (commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton) premiered the prototypes of a new futuristic looking cutting-edge bag design on the Cruise 2020 runway. Louis Vuitton is calling this new handbag the “Canvas of the future handbag”. These handbags come with a 1920×1440 resolution flexible AMOLED display from Royole. The bags come in 2 variants; one comes with a single display and other one comes with two displays.
The screens which are placed on these bags are produced by Royole. The main aim of Royole is” to create and manufacture next-generation human-machine interface technologies which improve the way people interact with and perceive the world”. Flexi Pai, by Royole , is technically the first foldable smartphone. It did not do well in the market because of the various flaws in its screen, which caused the display on the phone to completely fade away just after a couple of days of usage.
Earlier Royole had also put a flexible screen on a handbag of its own, but it did not sell in the market because of its extremely high price. The new Louis Vuitton prototype will definitely have a better chance at selling more in the market because Louis Vuitton bags are already in the luxurious segment and they already retail at a really high price.
On the runway of Cruise 2020 the screens on the new Louis Vuitton “Canvas of The Future” showed the stills of the browser but Louis Vuitton says that the main idea behind this handbag is for it to become an extension of the smartphones, so maybe there’s more to this futuristic handbag than what meets the eyes.
