The cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, whose term as Rajya Sabha MP ended recently, has donated his entire salary and allowances to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, as per NDTV reports.
Sachin Tendulkar along with the famous veteran actress Rekha has been criticized a lot for their poor attendance in the Parliament. Even though he has not attended more than 7% of the total sessions held during his tenure, notably he has made sensible utilization of MP Local Area Development Fund.
According to the data released by Tendulkar’s office, it is being claimed that he has sanctioned 185 projects across the country and nearly Rs 7.4 crore out of his allocated 30 crores has been used for educational and relevant structural development purposes including building and renovation of classrooms.
Sachin has also adopted two villages under Sansad Gram Adarsh Gram Yojna Scheme which includes one in Andhra Pradesh and one in Maharashtra. Despite being criticized for his poor attendance, we believe he has done the noblest act by the end of his Rajya Sabha MP term.
His selfless gesture was also appreciated by the PMO through a letter of acknowledgement which read as
“Prime Minister acknowledges this thoughtful gesture and conveys his gratitude. These contributions will be of immense help in providing assistance to the persons in distress.”
You would be surprised to know that he donated approximately 90 lakh in salary and other monthly allowances that he earned during his past six years of tenure as Rajya Sabha MP. Well, that’s a huge amount.
He is not only one of the greatest batsmen of all time but also a great human being. A praiseworthy act indeed! Mr. Tendulkar.
