During her teen days, she chose Bollywood over her enrolment in IIT Kanpur. Naseem, her acting debut, is a National-Award winning film and she went on to star in movies like Papa Kehte Hain, Papa the Great, Badal, Betaabi and Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet. She has also worked with various actors of the industry such as Rani Mukerji, Ajay Devgn, Jugal Hansraj, Arshad Warsi, Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor and Bobby Deol.  She also tried her luck on TV serials like Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Kkusum, Kittie Party and Kaahin Kissii Roz.

In the December of 2003, Mayoori left her acting career to marry NRI Aditya Dhillon and then, the couple moved to the United States. Later on, she went on to pursue an MBA in finance and marketing from Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, City University of New York. She started off with her second shot at her career as an associate media manager at 360i, a digital agency based in New York. She worked in U.S.A. from 2004 to 2012. In one of her interviews, Kango was quoted saying, “Every time a new client sees me, they have the same question – ‘How come you are here?’ I have answered it so many times that some colleagues suggested that I record the answer. But I have to prove myself in every new meeting as people have a notion that actors are not intelligent. I have worked hard to make people take me seriously. People should complete their education before they come looking for that big break in Bollywood. Especially the actress, their career in the industry lasts only around ten years. Have a backup option.”

Although she has chosen to stay away from the limelight of the glamour world, the new Google India Head still considers actors like Arshad Warsi, Shweta Salve, Mukul Dev and Gauri Pradhan as her buddies.
