In the recent addition to the #MeToo story, a horrific truth has come to light. A woman, who has been living and fighting the dreadful memories of not only being molested but being brutalized, raped, humiliated and destroyed for last 20 years, have finally gathered the courage to speak up against one of the most influential names in the industry. Vinta Nanda, Tara’s writer-producer, has accused Alok Nath of harassing her, raping her and then sacking her career, nearly two decades ago. She has posted on Facebook revealing the vicious act of this vile creature.
His wife was my best friend. We were in and out of each other’s homes, we belonged to the same group of friends, most…
When asked by ABP news regarding the allegations made by Vinta Nanda, Alok Nath said, “Neither I am denying this nor do I would agree with it. It (rape) must have happened, but someone else would have done it. Well, I do not want to talk much about it as for the matter if it has come out, it will be stretched… We only have to hear to women’s stand because they are considered weak. It is useless to react on the allegations as in today’s world whatever a woman says, only that will be considered”
What Mr. Nath fails to understand is that the odds are heavily stacked against survivors of harassments and rape being believed. You are not asked to address a dating rumour to which you can neither deny nor agree to. We want answers and an explanation if you can come up with one.
We wonder the role he did in ‘Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety’ was to unravel his persona of the most ’Sanskaari’ or was he tired of pretending and wanted to do a role that fits his true nature. The level of courage that Vinta Nanda showed today is worthy of a salute. Picking up all the pieces and turning her life to 360, she is a fighter and a survivor.
Once a predator, always a predator!
The question here is whether Alok Nath who hides behind the mask of the most ‘Sanskari’ Indian Actor is still keeping up with his dirty ways. Will more women gather up the courage to speak against him? And the major question is are we going to continue with #MeToo as a trending hashtag or are we actually going address to the problem. Instead of just sharing the stories why not banish these predators from our Industry?
