Rani Mukherjee's stand on #MeToo movement at 'The Actress Roundtable 2018'

Rajeev Masand, the famous film critic, conducted ‘The Actress Roundtable 2018’ with our Bollywood leading ladies, Rani Mukherjee, Tabu, Deepika Padukone and Taapsee Pannu.

The discussion revolved around many topics from the change in the way the Bollywood is coming out with female protagonists roles and how well the audience is reacting to it to the #MeToo movement that’s taken over Bollywood with rage this year.

All the actress put forward their views and had a candid discussion. Rani Mukerji too contributed in the discussion and made some ‘regressive’ comment on the #MeToo movement, which didn’t go well with the Twitteratis. Rani commented that it is on us women to protect ourselves from the harassment and should learn self-defense and martial arts to do so.

When Anushka and Deepika pointed out to the root of the problem that it is very important to induce the concept of consent in every individual, Rani added that ‘mothers cannot be taught how to raise their children, and it is the responsibility of women to protect themselves’.
Rani’s statement sparked an outrage among the Twitteratis who called out her diplomatic approach:

As we bid adieu to 2018 let’s also say goodbye to these misogynist and mediocre thoughts and try to focus on the root of the problem than just going around the fences. ‘The Actress Roundtable 2018’ surely talked about serious issues and we came to know where our leading ladies stand. We were happy to see them understanding the problems being empathetic in spite of living in the glass houses, of course except for Rani Mukherjee!
